If your kids are looking for things to do and you are looking for easy thanksgiving crafts to do together, we have you covered.
Here are the top 10 ideas for Thanksgiving crafts for kids of all ages this holiday season.
Need a way to make use of all those pumpkins you bought for Halloween and October? No sweat. Whip out the paint and get to work creating turkey pumpkins!
This craft idea works especially well for those miniature pumpkins that were too small to carve. In addition to paint, you can also stick googly eyes on the pumpkins and feather to the back to make a tail. There is no such thing as too little decoration on these!
Nothing says Thanksgiving quite like a bountiful cornucopia on the table. Using just felt and colorful beads, you can create beaded corn to place as table décor.
Tie about 7 or 8 pipe cleaners together at one end. Slide different colored beads on one at a time to each pipe cleaner. Leave about an inch of room at the top. Once complete, twist the extra inch of pipe cleaners together to create the top of the corn, and voila!
Fall foliage is one of the most beautiful sights during the autumn season. But it can do overtime and become the canvas for the kids to create art too!
Grab some intact leaves from the front yard and make sure they have no bugs on them. Paint silly faces on them, create little leaf families, and glue them to a canvas.
Need some ideas for printable Thanksgiving crafts? Do a quick Google search to get some Thanksgiving-themed coloring sheets. This is a fantastic way to keep the kids busy, especially when it comes time to make Thanksgiving dinner.
Plus, this is a great idea because you can customize the print-out to what your child wants to color.
This is a perfect way to your unique "touch" on Thanksgiving crafts. But be warned, this fun craft could get messy!
Paint the bottoms of your child's feet a color that you want the body of the turkey to be. Be sure to paint the toes a different color. Once painted, have your child step onto a piece of blank white paper. Make sure they're pressing all the way down. Cut it out once it is dry.
Repeat this process, but their hands. You can do multiple different colors during this step. These will create the feathers. Hang it up on the fridge when you're done.
Who says Christmas gets to have all the fun? Gather up the kiddos and let them help you make Thanksgiving-themed sugar cookies using fun silicone cookie cutters.
This is a great way to teach the kids about measuring, pouring, and cutting the cookies into shapes. Plus, they make for a great treat to bring to a party.
'Tis the reason for the season. Create a gratitude tree with your kids as a way to help teach them to be grateful for all the special relationships and things in their life. This is a great craft idea for older kids.
Cut out a tree trunk from brown cardstock. Next, cut out fall leaves and stick them to the tree trunk. Have your kids write down things they are grateful for this holiday season.
This is a fun one! Instead of tossing the corn husks right into the trash, repurpose them for this easy thanksgiving craft.
Dry out the corn husks and glue the bottom to a wooden headband so they stand upright. They need to be dried out in order for them to stand up straight.
Lay them flat and have your kids paint them in fun Thanksgiving colors or bright designs. Have them wear them while watching the Thanksgiving parade for some extra cheer.
This is a great craft idea that can double as real holiday decorations. Paint wooden blocks in a variety of rust and orange colors. Paint letters on the face of the blocks to spell out your favorite Thanksgiving messages. Some examples are "Thankful" "Give Thanks" and "Be Grateful."
Another great way to get your kids involved with nature in a fun and artful way is to make pine cone turkey. Bundle up and go outside to collect pine cones that have fallen on the ground.
You can rinse them out and dry them just to ensure that no bugs crept inside.
Once dry, glue red, white, orange, and yellow feathers to the "tail" end. Hot glue googly eyes and a felt nose to the front. Put these in your foyer or mudroom as a sweet little way to hello every time you come into your home.
Making Thanksgiving crafts can be one of the best ways to not only keep your kids entertained as the days grow shorter, but are a great way to make fun, new traditions during the November season.

Materials
Old plaid blanket or plaid fabric
Needle and thread (or sewing machine)
You can make cozy fall placemats to complement your Thanksgiving feast. To create them, you’ll use festive plaid fabric in autumn colors. If you stick with just autumn hues rather than Turkey Day fabric, you’ll be able to use your placemats next fall throughout the season. Cut your fabric or blanket into placemats. You can use an old placemat as a pattern. Then, sew the edges so they look neat and don’t fray. You may also wish to iron them to give them a crisp, clean look.
Materials:
Felt
Twine or cord
Gold rickrack
White buttons
Hot glue
Celebrate [one of] the best part of the Thanksgiving meal: dessert! Make a simple pie slice garland using felt in shades or orange and brown. Cut triangles from your felt and attach them to your twine to make a garland for your window or for hanging above your dining table. Decorate each triangle to look like a piece of pie. Use gold rickrack to adorn the back of the triangle to resemble pie crust. Add the button in the center of the triangle to resemble whipped cream.
Materials
Red and green polymer clay
Twine
Create cute apple ornaments to give away to guests attending your Thanksgiving dinner. Use your red clay to make the apple body and the green clay to form its leaf and stem. The apple mold will help you form perfectly uniform apples. Carefully remove them from the mold and form a small hole in the top of the apple for running twine through later. Back your apple ornaments on parchment paper in a 215-degree oven for between 15 and 20 minutes to harden them. Once they cool, you can tie the twine to create your ornaments. Leave them plain or embellish them as you wish. This is an easy craft project for kids too!
Materials:
Large wooden beads (about the size of a grape)
Plain wire
Jar lid
3 Cinnamon sticks
First, tie your cinnamon sticks together so that they form a ‘pumpkin stem’. You’ll need to cut 6 wires that are 12 inches in length. Twist the very ends of the wires together and spread them out so that they resemble a spider shape. Then, bead each arm until you have an inch left at the top of each wire. Bend each wire to form your pumpkin. Wrap the top portion of the wire to the cinnamon stick stem. Add some hot glue to the base of your pumpkin on the very bottom beads and attach it to your jar lid base. While you can use plain wood beads, orange beads will work even better! Use this beaded pumpkin as a coffee table or dinner table centerpiece.
Materials
6-8 small gourds
Craft paint (your choice of colors)
This DIY craft is a perfect way to spend an afternoon with your children. Paint your assorted gourds in festive fall colors or metallic hues. You can add designs to the gourds or just transform them with a single coat of color. After the gourds dry, you can line them up on a table runner to adorn your dinner table as a Thanksgiving centerpiece
Materials
Pinecones
Dried twigs, berries, and acorns
Wreath form
Silk autumn leaves
Twine
Adorn your home with a DIY autumn wreath made with items from your own backyard or from your local craft store. You’ll need your glue gun to attach your pinecones and other assorted items to the wreath. Once the items are in place, you can add some festive shimmer using your craft foil flakes or glitter. Finally, tie the twine to the top of the wreath so you can hang it on your door or on a wall.
Materials
Mini terracotta flower pots
Craft paint
Autumn-colored silk maple leaves (3 per pot)
Assorted fall candy (candy corn, wax pumpkins, caramels)
Using your craft paint, add turkey faces to each flower pot. Then, when your paint has dried, glue three leaves to the back of the pot to reflect the turkey’s feathers. Fill each pot with assorted candies to give to your Thanksgiving guests. You can also try a variation on this and use a larger terracotta pot to create a candy dish accent for your foyer or family room.
Materials
3 (or more) mason jars
Orange, yellow, and white craft paint
Plain twine
If you’re serving a Thanksgiving buffet, these mason jar accents are perfect to feature as receptacles for silverware or plastic ware. To create them, you’ll want to follow a candy corn color pattern. Paint the bottom section of each jar yellow. Paint the middle section orange and the top section white. To ensure you have straight lines between colors, you might want to attach painters tape. Once your paint has dried, you can attach the twine around the top of the jar and tie it with a simple bow.
Each of these crafts will help you celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Many can even be reused for future celebrations. Shop The Nerdy Birdy to find great deals on craft supplies for these and other DIY craft projects.
]]>Resin art has become so popular that some people have created small businesses around it. So have you been wondering how to make resin jewelry? You have to start with a quality silicone mold.
These jewelry molds are available to buy from craft stores and jewelry suppliers. But if you want to create pieces that will stand out from the crowd, making your silicone molds might be the answer.
Here's a quick guide for making silicone molds for resin jewelry.
Before you make your molds, first, you have to gather the materials. From your local craft store, you can find a variety of kits to make silicone molds. The store should have a few different methods to choose from.
For example, you may find a silicone putty that is easy to mix and safe to work with, especially for children. There is also liquid rubber, a pourable medium that hardens with time.
Before choosing your materials, it's important to consider what you plan to create. Some silicones are food-safe, and others aren't.
If you're making jewelry, this won't be a concern. But if you want to use your resin for more than one craft, be aware that you're choosing the right kind.
When using a silicone mold kit, it's essential to follow the directions included. Typical steps include mixing the two parts of the silicone to create the mold material.
You'll be making what's called a negative form. This is an impression of the object in the silicone that will take the shape of the initial object when the resin is poured.
A beginner-friendly method is to make a block mold. Here the resin would be poured into a small container, and the object that creates the mold would be placed into the silicone.
It's important to remember that any details you want from your object should be placed into the silicone.
You should also have something to keep your object in place so that it doesn't sink to the bottom of the mold or move around to ruin the form.
There are other methods to mold making, like the glove or blanket method. This means applying layers of silicone with a small brush. However, this method is much more time-consuming than the block mold method.
Once you have your object in the silicone, be sure to follow the provided instructions on cure time. This depends on the kind of silicone you're working with and the size of your mold.
Curing can take a few hours before you're ready to de-mold and start your resin project.
Resin jewelry has become increasingly popular over the last few years. You can create stunning and unique pieces that look like wearable pieces of art in your own home with easily acquired materials.
You can make a silicone mold out of just about anything from things you find in mature to small trinkets you already have. In a matter of hours, you can have unique pieces that everyone will ask about.
Ready to create something new right now? Check out our silicone molds for your next jewelry project inspiration!

]]>Resin art is an unconventional and quirky creative outlet for newbies and experienced hobbyists. It uses epoxy resin, which is a type of synthetic resin that’s less toxic and harmful than the resin used for varnishes.
The versatility of resin lets anyone create any type of design they want, and creating a car coaster mold using resin is an excellent way to become accustomed to using epoxy resin and having beautiful coasters as well.
Whether you want to keep your car clean or want to customize your car to make it look more your style, car coasters are the way to go. Not only do they protect your car from crumbs and moisture, but they add a personalized touch as well.
If you’re unsure about what to gift to your friends and family, then giving them a set of personalized car coasters by you can seem like a thoughtful and well-made present.
Before you get started, you’re going to need to get all the supplies needed for your car coaster creations. The items you will need are:
The epoxy resin you choose to use should be determined by its durability, clarity, and glossiness upon drying. If you’re working inside your home, look for a resin that doesn’t produce toxic fumes and can be safely used indoors. You can create a beautiful car coaster mold using resin with the right supplies and techniques.
You can find Beginner Resin Kits that have the dye, resin, and gloves provided. It’s useful for those who only plan on using resin for making their car coasters. There are special types of epoxy resin available that are scratch-resistant and heat-resistant.
Look for these special epoxy resins for your car coasters because they will provide a better finish and offer better durability than conventional resin. Traditional resin is thick and viscous, which makes it harder to work with, so stay away from them when you’re handling resin for the first time.
Depending on your preferences, you may want to consider adding Resin dyes, Alcohol Inks, or Pigment Powders to your clear resin for a better finish. Adding different colors to your resin car coasters
Mixing different colors in your car coaster mold using resin can produce beautiful and unique gradient effects. You can also choose to add glitter powder or small objects like pebbles, sand, dried flowers, beads, and so on if feel like your design requires it.
Most cars have two differently sized cup holders in the front, so your coaster mold would also have to be the same size as your car cup holders. Depending on the size and shape of the mold, you will require a different amount of resin to pour into the mold.
Before you start, set your workstation so that you don’t accidentally mix your resin with something else. Choose an area that’s well ventilated and has enough light so you can clearly see how your resin looks. Cover the station with newspapers or scrap cloths in case any spills occur.
Begin by wearing gloves and setting your mixing cups on your workstation. Pour equal amounts of epoxy resin and hardener into your mixing cups. Use your wooden sticks to mix the resin and hardener thoroughly for about 3-4 minutes. Pour your finished resin solution into another cup and stir for another minute or so.
The finished resin mixture should be clear and not have any lumps or particles in it. If there are any pigments or colors you want to add to your resin, you can separate the clear resin into different cups and customize the color and shade of the resin in different cups.
Any objects you want to add to your coaster should be placed in their ideal position in the coaster mold.
Your resin solution shouldn’t be too runny and should look like a paste once it’s in the mold. The resin will level by itself in the mold within a minute. If any bubbles are rising on the surface of the resin mixture, use your butane lighter to pop them. Do this from at least a distance of 4-6 inches.
After this, you can cover your car coaster molds for around four to six hours for it to cure. You can use a UV light to cure resin (if you own one) for a quicker process. After the first layer is dried, pour a clear layer of resin to seal in your car coaster design.
Additionally, for more intricate designs, you can try doing multiple layers of resin to create more depth. Using a blow dryer can also create a splatter texture on your resin mold.
Cover your car coasters once again and let them cure for a full day before taking them out. Once you’ve removed the car coasters from the mold, you can decorate the edges of the coaster by painting or using decorative tape.
You can also sand the edges or polish the car coaster to get a clearer gloss and finish on your coaster. Apply the bumpers to the bottom of your car coasters to add the final touch to your unique car coasters, and they’re ready to use!
Make your eclectic car coaster mold using resin and have fun during the creation process. You can create different coasters using different themes and switch them out each season or even week.
They make the perfect gifts for your friends and family, especially during big events when you need gifts in bulk. They can be customized in large batches and make the recipients feel special too.
]]>Whether you make homemade soaps, jewelry, cosmetics, or another type of DIY home goods, mica powder is a wonderful way to make your products unique. Mica powder comes in a variety of colors and adds a bit of flair and glamour to your craft products. Make your crafts pop with glittery, pearlescent, or metallic effects.
This guide will go over everything you need to know about mica pigment powders. If you've never worked with it before, never fear. We'll talk about the best ways to use mica powder so you can start enhancing your homemade pieces with confidence.
Mica powder is ground down mica stone. It's a stone that has a pearly luster made up of several distinct layers.
Have you seen a piece of slate or granite and admired all the little glittery bits in it? Those tiny pieces would be mica. Mica stone is mined in either sheets or flakes.
After it's mined, it'll be ground into a glittery powder. The natural color of mica powder tends to be off-white or have tones of yellow, gray, or light brown. To change the color, different oxides are added.
Pigment and mica powders are similar—you can use either to add color to a project you're working on. What is different between the two is the effect.
Since mica powder is glittery, it'll give your finished product a shimmery finish. While it can color your project, its ability isn't as bold as that of a pigment powder.
Pigment powders are meant to be colorants. They're bold and create a matte finish. You can adjust the amounts you use in order to get the shade you desire.
Mica powder is versatile and can be used for a variety of crafts and projects.
Cosmetic grade mica powder is often used in combination with pigment powder in blush, eye shadow, and foundation. If you'd like to start making your own cosmetics, ensure you're using high-quality mica powder. Natural mica powder needs to have a micron size less than 150 to be FDA approved for cosmetic use.
If you really want to amp up your homemade cosmetic game, look into chameleon mica powder. Chameleon mica powder blends together a variety of colors, like blue, green, red, and violet to create a unique color blend that'll make your eyeshadow pop. Depending on how the light hits your eyelids, it'll look like a different color each time you look.
Mica powder is full of shimmer and comes naturally in a fine texture. They're the perfect ingredient to use when creating your own custom makeup products.
Resin art pieces are a great place to use mica powder. If you're a fan of making resin art, you likely have made a lot of tumblers. There are so many design options you can do, especially when you throw mica powder into the mix.
You can use one shade of mica powder when creating your tumbler or swirl different shades together to add beauty and depth. You can also add an ombre look to your tumbler that blends together with your favorite colors.
If you tend to lose your tumbler in the dark, no problem. Add in some glow-in-the-dark pigment powder so you can find it any time of day.
Below are some techniques you can use to add mica powder to your resin projects:
No matter how you choose to use mica powder, keep in mind that a little goes a long way. You can always add more mica powder in, but you can't take it out.
Incorporating mica powder into your jewelry making is straightforward and easy once you master a few techniques. If you make clay jewelry, you can mix in mica powder with the raw clay to add additional color. You can also paint it onto a finished piece, using a finish over the top to seal it in.
If you use jewelry stamps or sheet metal to form your designs, paint mica powder on top of the stamping. To create a truly unique look, paint a variety of colors. This technique is great for earrings and necklaces.
Do you like to add a bit of color to your homemade soaps? Pop in a bit of mica powder the next time you whip up a batch. Before you add it in, reading the packaging to ensure that the powder won't fade or morph in cold process soap.
You'll want to add one teaspoon of mica powder to a lightweight oil, such as avocado or sweet almond. For larger batches, you can increase the teaspoons to tablespoons. Just ensure that it's a 1:1 ratio for mica powder and the oil.
Mica powder is also a great option for melt and pour soap. There's not as big of a worry that it'll morph like it could during cold process soap. For each pound of soap that you make, use around 1/2 teaspoon of powder.
Mica powder is a great way to add dimension and a unique flair to all of your homemade pieces. Whether you're making soap, jewelry, or another type of craft, mica powder will give you a wonderful glittery effect you can't achieve with anything else.
